Good Sunsets – Anawhat?!?

Trinity Bay Panorama

On the way from New Orleans to Gonzales, we needed a place to stop for the night.  Cheap was a requirement, Internet access was a plus, relaxing scenery would be a bonus.  We managed to find all three at Anahuac, TX.

Trinity Bay Sunset 3Can you hear me now?

It wasn’t until the next morning that I found out it was pronounced “anna-whack”.

Anahuac is at the northern end of Trinity Bay, which is at the northern end of Galveston Bay.  There’s a lake, a park, a couple gas stations, an RV campground, a school and not much else.  But the campground was nice enough and seems pretty laid back (we never actually met the owners or checked in, just left the money under the office door after playing phone tag the night before).  BeachThe campground, Trinity Bay RV Park, backs up to water and Fort Anahuac Park.  Fort Anahuac Park has a long road that goes out to a point on the bay.  That’s about all we know.

Oh, there is one more thing we know… there are great sunsets! 🙂
